You might want to remember this color: Celery.

Sherwin-Williams just named Celery its 2027 Color of the Year, and I'm already thinking about what it means for balloon decor.

When we think of celery, we think of the light green veggie we routinely buy and toss out every week. What we don't think about is the gentle green with yellow undertones, distinct from all other greens being used in balloon decor recently.

Sherwin-Williams describes it as an airy, herbal green connected to freshness, comfort and balance.

And if you know me, you know I'm already asking the important question: How do we turn it into balloons?

For balloon decor, that means we're not limited to one type of event. As a balloon artist, I design color palettes intentionally, rather than simply matching colors. Because celery is a light, pastel green with a yellow tone, I can take it in several directions.

Soft & Romantic

Warm & Sophisticated

Fresh & Playful

Clean & Elevated

Moody & Modern

Fresh & Airy

Any good balloon artist can tell you that the color is definitely not the entire design. What you pair it with changes the entire personality of the event.

I didn't want to create one celery balloon arrangement. I wanted to see just how many different ways we could make one color work.

Why I Think Celery Works So Well for Balloons

What I love about Celery isn't that it's trendy. It's that it gives us options. It can be soft without being boring. It can be colorful without being overwhelming. It can feel feminine, earthy, modern or luxurious depending on what we pair with it.

What I love about Celery isn’t that it’s trendy. It’s that it gives us options. Colors often evoke specific feelings: blush suggests romance, black is bold, and bright yellow feels playful. But Celery is unique. Celery is vibrant enough to make a statement yet subtle enough to complement other design elements.

Celery can be soft without being dull.

Pair it with ivory, cream, and champagne for a light, elegant look, perfect for bridal showers, weddings, or sophisticated events. It can be colorful without overwhelming. Blending with blush, powder blue, or butter yellow makes it playful, ideal for baby showers or garden parties, maintaining a cohesive palette. It can feel feminine without being overly so.

Combined with blush and ivory, it creates a romantic look, but its earthy green tone prevents it from being too sweet. It can feel earthy and natural.

Pair it with sage, deeper greens, or warm tones for a garden-inspired or understated wedding theme. It can feel modern. With black, ivory, or chrome, Celery becomes clean and contemporary. And it can feel luxurious. With ivory, champagne, and warm metallics, it creates an impact without needing excessive colors.

As a balloon artist, this versatility excites me. Celery adapts to different events, from baby showers to elegant birthdays. Designing with color isn’t just about matching balloons; it’s about crafting a color story. When colors unite, they do more than decorate—they evoke the desired atmosphere for guests.

One color. So many possibilities.

That’s why I’m excited to see where Celery takes us in 2027.
